Employee engagement is a critical measurement of an organization's future. If you are going to invest time, effort and dollars in an engagement process, it is important to make sure you get accurate and relavant information. That is why proper planning is critical. There are three critical components in the planning phase.
  1. Survey Delivery Methodology - Ensure that a reputable third party is capturing the results. Employees need to feel comfortable that their individual results will be kept confidential. Remember you are looking for open and honest feedback. Survey's done in-house typically yield skewed results.
  2. Understand the information you want from the survey. Many times mistakes are made in the design of the survey and as a result information is lost or irrelevant and the money has already been spent. Also understanding how to set up the demographic questions so that you can pull information that will allow you to make improvements.
  3. Validated Employee Engagement Questions.  Will the questions measure employee engagement or were the questions just created and labeled as an employee engagement survey.
